Is Now Really Better?

Stephan Sagmeister believes that the world has changed for the better...

The author of musical album covers for Jay-Z, The Rolling Stones, and Lou Reed, owner of a Grammy Award, a guru of design, Stephan Sagmeister will visit Tbilisi as a guest of the Black Sea Design Festival.

In his new book, 'Now Is Better,' Stephan Sagmeister shares his perspective on long-term thinking and shows us that, despite the negative information boom, life for the average person has improved.

As he himself says, “If you want to communicate something, you'd better make sure that your design piece is well-dressed and that its teeth are fixed. At the same time, I still believe that if it is only stylistically great and it has nothing to say, it still is not going to make a lasting impression on anybody.”

'Now Is Better' presents original visual solutions and statistical data from the achievements of the XIX and XX centuries, along with visual representations of global statistics. These show the decrease in poverty rates, work-related stress, crime, and improvement in life expectancy and human productivity. According to the author, all of this is conveyed through the language of design, enhancing emotions and prompting us to consider a new perspective on the country's development.

Within the Black Sea Design Festival, Stephan Sagmeister will present the book at the Design Institute and will engage the Georgian audience in discussions, lectures, and workshops.

Those interested can purchase the book in advance at the Design Institute.
