Design Foundation Student Startup

If you’ve ever found yourself caught in the chaos of choosing an outfit, you’ll understand exactly what brought Taso and Liza together and how they arrived at their design solution.

They first met in the Foundations of Design program at the Design Institute. Six months were enough for them to discover shared interests and aspirations, leading them to think not only about personal growth but also about improving the lives of others. Throughout this intensive six-month program—covering the full spectrum of design fundamentals—Liza and Taso learned about branding, strategy, and communication. They explored the basics of various design disciplines, worked on real-life projects alongside top industry professionals, and refined their creative, imaginative, and visualization skills. During these intensive sessions, they realized that bringing their idea to life was a tangible goal, so they began developing their concept.

They personally chose the brand’s name and created its visual identity. With the help of friends, they analyzed business challenges, and that’s how Grigali was born—a clothing brand that finds beauty in everyday chaotic moments and serves as a form of self-expression.

Grigali is for everyone who wants to convey their personality and mood through simple, comfortable clothing. All Grigali pieces are locally produced in Georgia. As Liza and Taso recall, what seemed like the easiest part—finding skilled professionals to bring their sketches to life—turned out to be the biggest challenge. With determination and motivation, they overcame this crucial first stage and are now ready to present their collection to a wider audience. This collection marks both their shared beginning and a farewell to their teenage years.

"GONE ARE THE DAYS" is now available for purchase, waiting for anyone who gets caught in the whirlwind of choosing what to wear.

Their design venture is just taking its first steps. For now, they are mobilizing resources on their own, and despite their lack of experience, they are eager to apply the knowledge and skills gained at the Design Institute to their own startup. With ambitious plans that extend beyond national borders, they are ready to take on the challenge.
