What does the Design Foundation Program entail and who is it tailored for?

Designed as an intensive 250-hour preparatory course, the Design Foundation Program caters specifically to high school students and undergraduates without prior design experience. This program serves as a comprehensive exploration of the breadth of design, enabling participants to clarify their career aspirations and discover their creative talents.

Who are the lecturers, and what are the focus areas of the program?

Our program is curated by top-tier experts from the fields of creativity, education, and business. Throughout the course, participants delve deep into the history of design, gaining insights into various design professions and disciplines. From mastering graphic design software to exploring traditional craftsmanship, animation, photography, videography, and honing essential skills such as creativity, imagination, visualization, and communication, the students will be equipped with essential skills for success in diverse professional endeavors.

What is the program's structure?

Starting in April and spanning six months, each month is dedicated to the exploration of a distinct module comprising both theoretical and practical components. Participants get to collaborate closely with industry specialists on real projects, benefiting from valuable mentorship and guidance from representatives of the business and public sectors. They will also actively engage in organizing thematic events, contribute to social projects, and network with creative and business professionals, including specialists from advertising agencies and design firms, presenting their personal projects, and refining their portfolios.

What subjects are taught during the program?

Students enrolled in the intensive Design Foundation Program will study for six months, covering a wide array of subjects including art history, various design disciplines, professions in design and creativity, sketching, mind mapping, material modeling, color theory, color psychology and composition, basics of at least three graphic design programs, craft, photography, animation, video and motion graphics basics, idea visualization, design thinking, communication fundamentals, basics of business relationships and communication, and portfolio creation.

Does the program require advance preparation?

No prior preparation or materials are necessary for the program. Before the program begins, students will have the opportunity to attend an open day and have personal discussions with the program head and lecturers.

What is the study schedule like?

The program will start on April 10th and wrap up on September 15th, with a recess in August. Sessions will be held 3-4 times weekly, running from 15:00 to 19:00. In total, there will be 80 meetings, with 90% occurring at the physical premises of the Design Institute. Depending on the subject matter, some sessions may take place off-site. Upon acceptance into the program, students will receive a comprehensive weekly schedule and additional details via email. Throughout the course, students should allocate an extra 80 hours for reflection and completion of homework assignments.

What happens after the program concludes?

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a school certificate. Exceptionally motivated students will have the chance to pursue internships with partner organizations associated with the program.

Which organizations are involved in the program, and where will students do their internships?

The Design Institute partners with leading organizations in the business and creative sectors, including Playmakers, ADHD, Q&A, Marketer, Reckless, Veli, Holy Motors, TKT, Kolga, AliceQ, Anova, Lemondo, Limon, Vendoo, Teno, Metro, Sportfest, Signify, etc. All students will have the chance to meet representatives of these organizations, collaborate on real projects, and undertake internships in their areas of interest.
